Israeli Court Freezes West Bank 'Land Grab' Law

Expropriation law is subject of petitions by 17 Palestinian local governments, plus landowners and civil rights organizations
The High Court of Justice on Thursday issued a restraining order against implementing the so-called expropriation law, at the request of Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit.
Justice Neal Hendel ruled that the interim arrangement under which the state will not for now demolish illegal homes in the settlements but at the same time won’t expropriate Palestinian-owned land has judicial force.

BDS: Upholding our Rights, Resisting the Ongoing Nakba

The BNC Commemorates the 69th Anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba
May 15, 2017 marks the 69th anniversary of the 1948 Nakba, the mass expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland. Between 1947 and 1949, Zionist paramilitaries, and subsequently Israeli forces, made 750,000 to one million indigenous Palestinians into refugees to establish a Jewish-majority state in Palestine.
The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC) calls on people of conscience the world over to further intensify BDS campaigns to end academic, cultural, sports, military and economic links of complicity with Israel’s regime of occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid. This is the most effective means of standing with the Palestinian people in pursuing our inherent and UN-stipulated rights, and nonviolently resisting the ongoing, intensifying Nakba.
The Israeli regime today is ruthlessly pursuing the one constant strategy of its settler-colonial project —the simultaneous pillage and colonization of as much Palestinian land as possible and the gradual ethnic cleansing of as many Palestinians as practical without evoking international sanctions.

Palestinians: Israel's New Land-grab Law Kills Two-state Solution

PLO leader Saeb Erekat says 'Israeli settlement enterprise negates peace and the possibility of the two-state solution' after Knesset passes contentious bill retroactively legalizing expropriation of privately owned Palestinian land.
Palestinian officials decried the contentious bill passed by Israel's Knesset on Monday that would retroactively legalize the expropriation of privately owned Palestinian land, saying it could kill the chances to reach a peace deal along the lines of a two-state solution.

The High Cost of Housing in Israel Is Part of a Political Master Plan

Israel’s high home prices and poor transportation system are part of a plan to increase the population in the settlements so as to obviate the two-state solution.
One of the biggest and most persistent mysteries of Israel is its high housing prices. The solution is fairly easy, after all: As everyone knows, to lower prices, it’s necessary to increase the amount of land in the center of the country available for residential construction and to greatly decrease the duration of the approval process. So why isn’t this happening? Is it deliberate?
This week’s evacuation of Amona provided the answer. Just as it was beginning, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced the approval of 3,000 new housing units in the territories, in addition to the 2,500 that were previously announced. Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz also had big news this week. He described a plan to spend 5 billion shekels ($1.25 billion) to improve the road infrastructure in the West Bank, even though the roads there are in much better shape than those in Israel proper. It would include widening existing roads; building new roads, interchanges and tunnels as well as rail links between Ariel and Petah Tikva and between Ma’aleh Adumim and Jerusalem. "The five-year plan will give a big push to the development of Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria," Katz said.

The Israeli Law to Legalize Land Theft

The bill to legalize settlements invites the world to conclude that Israel is a criminal state, and should therefore not be spared international sanctions.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has become embroiled in two campaigns of criminality. One relates to his private life; his conduct and that of his family are being scrutinized in a series of cases that appear to show contempt for the law, good government and public morality. The second relates to crime on the national level, and on the international one as well.

The Israeli Practice of Taking over Rural Palestinian Land

This report tells the history of the process of fragmentation imposed on Palestinian rural land in the West Bank through a case study of three villages in the Nablus District - ‘Azmut, Deir al-Hatab and Salem. What these communities have experienced since 1980, when Israel established the Elon Moreh nearby, is but one illustration of broader developments taking place throughout the West Bank. Their story is similar to that of hundreds of Palestinian communities on whose lands Israeli settlements were established.

Way to Go, Amona Settlers

The huge amounts of money that will come raining down on the heads of 40 families from the illegal Amona outpost are protection money, not compensation for evacuation.
The deal they managed to get out of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not even he could get from his talks with the United States. If we divide the aid Israel is to receive from the United States, $3.8 million a year, by the number of Israel’s citizens, it comes to about $500 a person a year, or $5,000 over the decade the agreement is in force. The robbers of Amona, in contrast, will be getting about $250,000 per family, and that doesn’t include construction expenses, moving, security and “miscellaneous,” which will come to many times more, even without stretching it over 10 years.

The Law That Exposes Israel's True Colonialist Colors

Whether the land is cultivated (Negev) or neglected (West Bank), a legal manipulation will be found to transfer it from Arab to Jewish hands

The terra nullius doctrine was used during the colonial era to define lands with no sovereignty or property rights as no-man’s land. It provided Europeans with a legal umbrella for wresting control over lands and peoples in the four corners of the earth for hundreds of years. This doctrine, now annulled, maintained among other things that the lands of native populations in America, Africa, Asia and Australia, which were not formally registered or managed in a "modern" fashion, were deemed "empty" of rights.

The emperor has no clothes:
The West Bank, settlements and the two State Solution

Sadly, over the last seventy years Israel has had many successes at the expense of the Palestinian people. But the one success that is the most remarkable is getting Palestinians and the world to buy into the notion that the occupation of Palestine began in 1967, and that therefore, the solution to the Palestinian question is what is known as the two State Solution. This is a manipulation of reality that would make any magician proud.
It has become completely acceptable to disregard the fact that the vast majority of Palestine has been occupied since 1948. Mentioning the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and the eradication of Palestinian towns and villages, mosques and churches, schools and homes is now considered radical. Forty-nine years of occupation is the claim one hears over and over again, the fiftieth anniversary of the occupation is upon us, people say, and hard as I try, when I add forty-nine to the year 1948 I do not come up with 2016, but rather 1997.
There is almost complete disregard by the international community for the crimes committed by the Zionists between 1948 and 1967. The erasure of the fact that these were years marked by dispossession, massacres, and unspeakable abuse of human rights by Israel, is a truly impressive magic trick. Two small areas within Palestine that were drawn by Israel and left out of the boundaries of Israel in 1948, i.e. the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, have become recognized as Palestine. But that is not all. Not a single inch of the West Bank or the Gaza Strip is under Palestinian sovereignty. All of the Palestine, from the River to the Sea is controlled by Israel.

Showdown in Brazil
Brazil has rejected Danny Dayan as Israeli ambassador to Brazil because of his record as a settler, indeed, a leader in the settler movement and due to the fact that he lives in the West Bank. Since Israel sees no difference between Jews who live in the West Bank and Jews who live in other parts of the country they sent him and won’t accept the Brazilian government’s rejection.
Only other countries still make the distinction between West Bank and non-West Bank Israel. Israel only makes this distinction when it involves Palestinians. The question is, is this a mere gesture on the part of Brazil, or is the Brazilian government serious about challenging Israel? One would hope that this is a serious challenge to Israel and that it will be the first of many. But a serious challenge will require serious commitment to the cause of justice and freedom in Palestine, and that is not easy.

Ethnic Cleansing of Invented People
Mostafa Tamimi from Nabi Saleh, Bahjat Zaalan and his son Ramdan from Gaza died on my fiftieth birthday and just a few days after Newt Gingrich declared them an invented people. They were murdered by the Israeli terrorist organization, the IDF, an organization that is supported and funded by the US. One Israeli terrorist shot the invented Tamimi in the head with a tear gas canister, and another Israeli terrorist fired a rocket that murdered the invented Zaalan and his boy Ramadan. Both terrorists were educated and trained by Israel, and armed by the US. The Israeli terrorists are not invented but quite real, and they are safe, protected by the apartheid regime that trained and sent them on their missions, and the Israeli court system will make sure that they are never brought to justice. This is how Israel’s well-oiled ethnic cleansing machine operates.
